One Injured, One Dead in Town of Oakland Crash

A Lake Nebagamon youth died Wednesday afternoon from injuries sustained in a car crash in the Town of Oakland.

The crash was reported at 3:52pm on CTH B just west of Old Lyman Lake Rd.

The victim, Seth N. Stariha, 15, was a passenger in a Chevy S-10 pickup truck driven by his sister Natasha M. Stariha, 19. They had been westbound on CTH B when they collided with the rear end of a Ford F450 utility vehicle owned by One Way Tree Service of Braham, MN. The utility vehicle was partially in the driving lane as one worker was in the ditch spraying brush. Matthew Carlson-Thompson, 35, of Braham was in the driver’s seat of the utility vehicle and was uninjured.

Natasha was taken to a Duluth hospital by ambulance.  Seth was pronounced at the scene.

CTH B remained closed until 9pm as investigators from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office reconstructed the crash scene.  The incident remains under investigation.
